Coming to Center
Exploring the Mandala of your chart
Mandalas, no matter which culture they arise within, symbolize the universe. Their repeated patterns, colors, and shapes are meant to show the universality of the human experience and the interconnectedness of all.
In Sanskrit, mandala translates to “sacred center” or “circle.” This “sacred circle” can be seen everywhere: in the sun, the moon, an eye, a flower, a nautilus.
Similarly, the circle of our natal chart symbolises our universe. It contains patterns and elements that can be considered individually, yet there is an energetic wholeness shimmering underneath.
Mandalas are used for spiritual guidance, meditation, and self-reflection. In some traditions, they are seen as symbolising the abode of a deity, calling the deity into the presence of the practitioner. Carl Jung extensively explored them and their connection to astrology, hypothesizing that the circle drawings reflected the mind's inner state at the moment of creation and were a symbolic archetype in the collective unconscious.
We are invisibly connected to life through breath, through soul, yet many of us often move through our world with an internal sense of somehow having been abandoned, essentially orphaned from the experience of connection with the universe. This is particularly common when we are in the midst of profound change. When this happens, we have lost our connection to the center; it has gone underground. We have forgotten that we don’t have a life; we are life in constant motion.
Like a mandala, our chart reflects a sacred space. The circle of the mandala and our chart creates a symbolic holding environment like the circle of a mother’s arms. We can use it as a means to come back to center and deepen our relationship both with ourselves and the universe. From here, we can have an experience of our own divinity.
- This eight-week experiential workshop is a soul-stirring exploration of your chart as a personal mandala. Through creative processwork, mythic exploration, art, ritual, and dreamwork, participants will develop a new relationship with their inner world as reflected by the mandala of their chart.
Within the warm, intimate community of this workshop, you will
Embark on a journey of self-discovery
Engage in experiential practices that inspire and connect.
Develop a thoughtful approach to working with the symbolism of your chart
Re-enliven your connection with life
This workshop works for everyone; both the person who is just beginning to explore astrology to the more advanced practitioner. It is not about technique but rather developing a multidimensional experience of yourself and your life through a deeper sense of presence with your chart.
As with all of my classes, this will be a small group of no more than 10, as I have found it lends to both the power and intimacy of the experience. In addition to class time, I am giving each student a private 30-minute one-on-one session to explore, illuminate, and deepen the work we are doing. We will practice attuning ourselves through guided meditations, imagery, self-care practices, visualizations, myth-making, and creative projects. As well as some of the tools in my 30+ year background, facilitating Julia Cameron’s The Artist’s Way.
Sunday Mornings beginning August 3, 2025, 11:30 - 1:30 pm CDT
(12:30 EDT, 10:30 MDT, 9:30 PDT/AZ)

— Carl Jung, Memories, Dreams, Reflections,
When I began drawing the mandalas, however, I saw that everything, all the paths I had been following, all the steps I had taken, were leading back to a single point—namely, to the mid-point. It became increasingly plain to me that the mandala is the center.
Mandala images arise spontaneously in dreams and art as symbols of the center of the self, often occurring when people are in the healing process.
