Dancing With the Light:
Moving to the Celestial Music Within

Picture
We may not consciously consider it, but we are continually unfolding; essentially, our lives are a process of becoming.  This unfoldment is mirrored in the birth chart, the cosmic map I refer to as an alchemical compass.

We, our lives, are a process. Like the caterpillar cocooning itself, digesting itself, and reemerging in a radically new form, the butterfly, we die to ourselves again and again throughout our lifetime. This cycle, the mysterious evolution of death and rebirth is endless, yet most often we attempt to hang on to the safe shell of our old form, not trusting our evolving self.

When we try to subvert this process, we become strangers to ourselves. After all, a baby who has become too large for the womb must be born.  The process is primal, like childbirth, it is beyond our control.  It is life being life, separating and reforming, emerging into a new world.

In our charts, if we learn how to view them as a mirror of this unfolding process and thus use them to guide us along this pilgrimage, this process is powerfully seen through our Sun, Moon, respectively known as the lights.
While most people who have any inkling of astrology know their Sun sign, very few even know they have a Moon, let alone what sign it is.  Yet the dance between these two lies at the core of all the other unfolding cycles within the horoscope, and our inner and outer world.
The Sun is the light of the day, and the Moon the light of the night.

As Jane Meredith says in her book Embodied Kabbalah, light is intrinsic to our stories about the beginnings of things.  However, while we can measure the speed of light, see light, and perceive how it feels, light itself, what it actually is, is still a mystery.  It is intrinsic to our process, part of us but beyond definition.
When I read this, it immediately opened the door to a deeper way of looking at the birth chart through the lens of the lights. This class was created from this revelation.  I view it as a way of opening a door and creating an intuition.

In the 1600s’s Italian astrologer Giordano Bruno called the Sun the heart of the chart. The Sun represents the light that illuminates from within.
As the Sun illuminates the Moon, the Sun filters its energy through our physical lives.  It instigates the process by which we move forward. It is the compulsion to life, the purpose behind the initiating energy.  Can we know where it’s taking us or why?

The Moon receives, reflects, and filters that light.  It is connected to our embodiment, the Moon is the repository of our felt experiences of our past and as a result, our sense of belonging.  Rooted in our early experiences of attachment and bonding, our conditioned lunar nature often lies below the surface of our conscious awareness but continues to be lived and animated in our present through our implicit expectations about the world and our relationship to it.  It becomes our habitual self and the way we move through the world.  It is our conversation with life.
Astrologically, the Sun represents spirit, while the Moon represents soul. The natal chart itself ensouls our physical incarnation, our physical birth, and as such has a lunar connotation.

Often, we’re advised to do what’s in our heart and reject defining ourselves by our outer circumstances.  We’re told to choose the heart over the head, and reject overthinking and over-analyzing.  But how many of us have difficulty knowing just what the heart is whispering to us?  How are we to move forward?  Overthinking and over-analyzing cause the mind to give power to the limitations of the current physical environment, assigning power to what is outside the self, rather than giving due to what is within.  When we allow our perceived limitations to take over, we remain in the dark realm, and we lose the power of the Sun to guide us forward.
When we consciously align with our inner lights, we experience being embraced by life.  We know we belong to the world: To this moment, to this place where we already stand. When we consciously work to integrate our conscious with our unconscious, we discover that something greater has ushered us to a place and time.

That is the magic of working with your horoscope. It acts as a soul guide, the ancient elder in the room, whose wisdom and insight are boundless.

In this experiential workshop, we will practice dancing with our lights..By apprenticing ourselves to the music of the spheres, our particular resonance with all that is revealed through the wisdom of our charts, we can begin to embody the pattern within the dance. It is numinous. It is incandescent. Participants will not only see but experience the wonder and mystery of consciously using what is revealed just by their own lights (Sun/Moon)and emerge experiencing a profound sense of belonging to themselves as well as something larger.

Please join me on a six-week soul-stirring exploration of your chart as a personal mandala of sorts. Through creative processwork, mythic exploration, art, ritual, and dreamwork, participants will develop a new relationship with their inner world as reflected by the lights of their chart.

Within the warm, intimate community of  this workshop, you will
Embark on a journey of self-discovery
Engage in experiential practices that inspire and connect.
Develop a thoughtful approach to working with the symbolism  of your chart
Re-enliven your connection with life

You don’t need to have any previous experience with astrology, and if you are either a student or astrologer or a professional, this workshop will deepen your way of interacting with your chart as you move through life.

This workshop is for anyone who yearns to experience being more connected to themselves on the pathway of their lives. Participants can expect to have a breakthrough in their creativity and self-expression,  a rekindling of aliveness within their life as they encounter the magnificent mystery of their own existence as revealed through their natal chart.

As with all of my classes, this will be a small group as I have found it lends to both the power and intimacy of the experience. In addition to class time, I am giving each student a private 30-minute one-on-one session to more profoundly explore and illuminate the messages of the heart of their charts.  We will practice exploring ourselves as reflected through both our lived experience and our charts using imagery, visualizations, art, the exploration of myths and stories, both from the archetypal realm, as well as the ones we are enacting in our day-to-day life.

Sunday's 10 am - noon PDT/ Noon - 2 pm CDT
Oct 19 -Nov 23
$400

This is a Zoom Workshop, so you can participate from anywhere.  Participants will receive video recordings of all classes; it is not necessary to attend in person ( Although I highly recommend being live for at least some of the classes).

This is an embodied experiential workshop (yes, even over Zoom) personalized to the participants. To register or ask questions, please reach out to me by phone or email:

Part Two, which will begin in mid-January, deepens this expedition.  There, we will explore the progressed Sun and Moon, the nodes of the Moon. Also known as the dragon's head and tail, the nodes are a blend of the lights two orbital paths and are profoundly connected with our ever-evolving purpose/destiny as we move through life. If I were only able to consider three elements of a chart, the three I would be looking at are the Sun, the Moon, and the Nodes.  As in class one, we will practice exploring ourselves as reflected through both our lived experience and our charts using imagery, visualizations, art, the exploration of myths and stories (including dragon myths as related to astrology), both from the archetypal realm, as well as the ones we are enacting in our day-to-day life.  Also six weeks/$400.

Register for both by October 19 for $750.
