The Core of my approach

Symbolically, your birth chart is a living, breathing thing, connected to you, a symbolic mirror of your unfolding psyche.  You and your chart aren’t separate entities; the drawing, the map, is a representation of your personal energetic consciousness unfolding.    Viewing your chart in this manner gives you enormous power to consciously facilitate the transformation of both your inner and outer reality.  Which, of course, are intimately connected, we have just been taught that they are separate, in the same manner that we have been taught that we are separate.

In many ways, a birth chart is a sentient instrument of change. It can help guide us along our path, chart our course, and reveal obstacles, including the one that is the most diabolical; most often, we are the ones unconsciously standing in the way of our dreams and desires.   Working with our charts can allow us to discover ourselves more deeply and, as a result, open new trajectories in our lives.  It is as though lightning strikes and we become aware of paths that were previously invisible to us, subtle invitations into a future that awaits us if we will only take the first step.

My classes are designed to guide you in using astrology, specifically the constellations in your chart,  vs reading about it. I take my forty-plus years of study and experience with astrology and other modalities and teach you how to apply it to your life.

Even though the ancient Mesopotamians, Egyptians, and Greeks were the first to dabble with electricity, Benjamin Franklin is credited with discovering electricity when lightning hit an iron key on a string kite-string he was flying during an electrical storm.  It still took another 100 years of experimentation before it began to be harnessed in a light bulb. Basically, for over 2000 years prior, we had been trying to catch lightning in a bottle.

I believe all of us are lightning, and our chart is the symbolic container.  When we actively work with them, a collaboration of sorts,  we in essence capture lightning in a bottle.

Readings

www.mindymendelsohn.com/shopAll forms of astrological readings include prep time of about an hour prior to our meeting, which is included in the fee. My schedule tends to fill up ten days to two weeks in advance, at times even further out. Think of it this way, you make a reservation at any great restaurant or even your hairdresser in advance because you know that they will be booked out because they are good at what they do and have a proven track record. The same is true of my services.  I do keep a cancellation list for people who hope to get in earlier; people are notified in order of their placement on my list. If you are visiting Sedona ( or Chicago when I am there) and wish to see me in person, I suggest that you book in advance. I primarily work over Zoom, but if you live in the area or are visiting in person, I am happy to do an in-person session.  All sessions are recorded, and a downloadable file is emailed to you shortly after the session so you can re-listen at your convenience and don't have to worry about taking notes. For a full listing of astrological services, please click here

Counseling (Astrological Midwifery)

Private ongoing one-on-one counseling sessions (Therapeutic Astrological Midwifery)are $125 a session with a minimum of three sessions.

Here over time we work together to shift patterns within your life.  When we are working to change something within our lives we come face to face with our hidden beliefs. But they are invisible to us. Hidden away. They appear as the “way things are:” the weight that we keep losing and then regaining, the core of why we can seem to shift our financial situation or find true love or within any other situation that we are constantly yearning to shift but just don’t seem to be able to. Here is the nasty truth; we are addicted to this version of reality.  We are so committed to it that we will protest through a variety of “reasons” why it is impossible to transform. And we will get defensive or irritated at anyone who suggests otherwise. We in essence become a victim of our current circumstances. We actually insist upon our powerlessness.  Crazy, huh?

The truth is it’s not our thoughts that create our reality, but our beliefs. They, particularly the ones that lie within our subconscious act as our bias about the world.  These somewhat hidden forces shape what is possible for us, and if this is too woo-woo for you simply examine it psychologically and look at your behavior. If you don’t believe something is possible for you at best you will show up half-heartedly rather than throw your whole self in; you will hedge your bets.  At worst you won’t allow yourself to even consider throwing your hat into the ring though you may endlessly talk or think about it.  Or if you do you will find a way to sabotage yourself and your efforts.

Our unconscious beliefs show up in how we feel about something.  Think about it we usually choose to do something based upon how it feels to us.  How many times have you not moved forward with something because it didn’t feel safe?

The act of transforming your reality requires that you shift your beliefs, literally metamorphosing your experience through the vehicle of your conscious awareness. It takes work to shift your beliefs. They’re profoundly embedded and ultimately shape your experience of life at the very least.

In order for us to create the life we dream of, we long and hope for our belief in that vision has to be stronger than our belief in its impossibility.  Achieving that is a moment-to-moment spiritual practice.

Excavating and shifting these hidden beliefs is deeper than merely changing our perspective. They are hidden within our assumptions about life. Our biases are funny a thing, even if they are not working the way we would like them to we defend them with our lives.  This is what our ego really is, our identity is made up of myths and preconceived opinions about ourselves (and the world as well) and what we are capable of creating. You might call it a sort of bigotry.

We need to peel these back layer by layer.  Over time we are able to see more fully how these hidden beliefs, these hidden laws that we are living our life by block the way forward.  We have in essence been bound by them.  Our belief about the world has become its own impasse, a wall we cannot seem to get around.

Truly changing your reality takes time and discipline(Saturn). You can’t just envision (Jupiter). Truly manifesting different circumstances requires you to make a conscious choice to move again and again, moment by moment, out of the safety/comfort zone (the Moon) and into the growth zone.  I remember a friend of mine, a recovering alcoholic,  sharing that when she first got sober she would say to herself “For five minutes I can handle not having a drink,”  and then she’d do it again.  That’s how she initially made it through the day.  To me changing our reality is like this.  We are all addicted to our version of reality and will most often defend it as though our lives depend upon it.  And ironically they do.
